The BCC Liquid Separator – Efficient Seed Cleaning and Separation

The BCC Liquid Separator is a highly efficient solution designed for modern seed processing centers, offering reliable liquid separation for a wide range of seed species. The system is used as a continuous process to separate seeds, resin particles, and other impurities that resemble seeds in size and shape but differ in relative density.

    Advanced Separation Process

The separation process is based on differences in buoyancy between good, mature seeds and defective material. Seed is manually fed into a hopper and vibrated into a mixing funnel where water (or another liquid) is added. The seed-liquid mixture is injected near the bottom of the tank to eliminate surface tension effects and improve separation efficiency.

In continuous operation, good seeds float to the surface and are transported via the overflow stream to a collection box. The system can also operate in batch mode when separating heavy seeds from lighter impurities. In this case, viable seeds are collected from the bottom of the tank at intervals.

Beyond separation, the process also provides a washing effect, removing dust and wing particles attached to the seeds.

    Decreasing Resin Problems in Sowing

Growers can face recurring challenges with resin contamination in their seed lots. Resin particles can cause significant operational issues, as they may become lodged inside the sowing machine. In some cases, resin clumps are mistaken for seeds, causing the machine to sow resin into the growing containers. This can result in empty containers, uneven germination, and unnecessary time spent troubleshooting the sowing process.

By implementing the BCC Liquid Separator, nurseries can effectively separate resin particles from seeds based on differences in relative density. The liquid separation process removes a large portion of the problematic resin prior to sowing, significantly reducing machine blockages and misplacement during planting.

As a result, nurseries can achieve smoother sowing operations, improved planting accuracy, and reduced downtime.

    Operational Benefits

The BCC Liquid Separator offers several key advantages:

    – Continuous or batch processing flexibility

    – Water recycling system that reduces overall water consumption

    – Integrated dewatering station for efficient drainage

    – Direct transfer of seeds to seed dryer boxes

    – Complete stainless steel construction for durability and corrosion resistance

    – Easy monitoring and cleaning through an integrated step and removable stainless screen insert

    Technical Specifications

The unit has a design capacity of 10–50 kg of seed per hour, with a 100-liter seed hopper and a total water volume of 200 liters. The system is constructed entirely from stainless steel, including the separation tank and water circulation components. The BCC Liquid Separator combines precision, efficiency, and durable design, delivering measurable improvements in seed quality and operational reliability for seed processing centers worldwide.
