Forest seed centres and forest nurseries couldn't afford using antiquated techniques and inefficient systems while the rest of the forestry world advanced rapidly. Quality of seedlots, cost of plant production, quality of plants supplied by forest nurseries and environmental concerns were some of the major motivators for the movement towards mechanisation.
	The advent of mechanisation has made both seed processing centres and nurseries more competitive by optimising nursery production capacities, reducing the cost of plant production, increasing flexibility of operations and assisting the nursery manager to manage more effectively to maximise the quality of his crop.
	The technology mentioned above is at the heart of BCC's operations, which is an international company with its head office in Landskrona, Sweden.
